Local wp published static or hugo?

[ad_1]

Hi guys, so I have a personal website on wp and have a subscription for two years and the site is very reliable for update etc. But i want to separate some of the post content out to another domain as some of it doesn’t fit the site and i want to try and monetise some of the content using affiliate programs. Thats the plan anyway. And long term use this as a learning experience to move the main site to whatever model this site uses if its successful. 2 years. Yes a lot could change in between but still the other stuff will be done anyway.

So the sites are really quite basic. The main site is update manually its kind of a personal art portfolio and probably really doesn’t need the level of wp but i do get webmail probably the main reason im sticking with it right now simple connivence.

The other site contains blog articles on art, ai art, science, tech, stuff like that. Anyway thats the background.

So I’m considering two options (i know this is wp so maybe some bias but all comments welcome)

1. Host wp locally (mac m1) make the updates myself but export it using some ssg method.
This obviously makes it faster, improves security, i can host it on my existing cloud storage quite easily. The dynamic bits if i want comments, contact of course need to move these out as links to google etc.

Or

2. Use hugo. Ive read good things about this and maybe it’s a simpler solution. I think it will work fine with affiliate programs, seo, all that too.

Just wonder if anyone would think one method is better than the other. The wp option is i guess familiar setup plus I want to implement some ETL stuff that would be transformed using open ai api dynamically which maybe would give more control using wp over hugo. Maybe.

Anyway just any comments welcome.
