Long time Divi user. Divi 5 taking too long. Do I move to Oxygen, Bricks or something else?

[ad_1]

I’ve read the most recent Reddit posts about Oxygen vs Bricks and their competitors, but most are a year or two old, and I can see from the Bricks changelog that a lot has happened. People also used to be worried that Oxygen would close down as the company had come out with breakdance, but it is also releasing updates, so is that still a worry?

I’ve been using Divi since the first release. I know it has a bit of a bad reputation these days but it was a game-changer, and I feel bad for even thinking about this, but it’s time to move on. You can fix the front, but the admin visual builder is so slow now it’s costing me money.

I want Divi 5, but it’s taking too long and will not be ready for production use until next year. It’s time to move on and spend the time to learn a new tool.

I use Divi to design and create brochure websites, which I export using a plugin as HTML and host with a CDN to make the website lightning fast.

I’m competent with html/CSS/java/php, but I’m after workflow speed from a website creation tool. I could use VS Code but I don’t want to custom code each section from scratch or reuse section templates or all my website would look the same. I want total design control. I would also like more control under the hood than Divi provides, but saying that I’ve never been unable to do what I wanted using the theme.

One of Divi’s best features is its support. If there is a CSS issue, I can contact support instead of spending time diagnosing it, and they will look into it for me while I move on with the rest of the website.

My clients do not need access to the website admin. I make any changes they need, so the quicker I can design or make a change, convert it to HTML and upload it to my host, the more money I can make.

I’ve looked at the Figma to HTML converter plugin, but its reviews say it does not work correctly, and I need to be able to tweak the HTML output for PageSpeed Insights, etc.

Which builder do I move to? Oxygen, Bricks, or is there another tool like Figma I can use to create HTML websites as fast as possible?

Which has the best support? Will either of these builders help if I have a CSS issue, or will they tell me they can only support the builder?

  1. Wtf. All you do is create brochure websites, and you’re complaining the backend is too slow?

What am I missing here……… I’m a longtime DIVI user as well.
I have no idea what you are talking about, besides the like 3-4 second load time when the visual builder spins up.

    Maybe it’s your hosting?

  2. Get a trial of all 3 do something similar and request support. You will come to know if Support is the criteria.

All are good and should be able to achieve similar results .

  3. I used oxygen and currently use Bricks. I highly recommend bricks. Oxygen was more or less abandoned.

Bricks has ultra clean code and you can get really good page speed scores without even optimizing, so when you do optimize it’s next level.

  4. I’ve never had to ask for support with Bricks so I don’t know how you would go about getting support / if any is offered. So definitely give the trial a spin and see if you can get a hold of support somehow.

A while back I used Brizy and they did have a support ticket system. But the issue with Brizy is they have too many fingers in cookie jars and their focus is all over the place, between their cloud platform, WordPress plugin, Shopify builder, AI stuff, etc. Feels like they’re stretching themselves thin.

  5. Go with Bricks, it has the perfect blend of simplicity and freedom. Apart from WordPress, the Figma to HTML plugin is not a good way of creating websites, especially regarding DOM and responsiveness. If you’re looking for a website-tool similar to Figma, take a look at Framer.

  6. I was in the same exact boat you are currently in a few months ago. I needed to build a new site for the company I’m working at and was torn between staying with Divi 4, which I knew, and eagerly waiting for 5 to come out or switch to Bricks and learn a new system.

I’ll save you from all of my hemming and hawing and cut to the chase, I switched to Bricks and I’m so happy that I did. There is a learning curve, but I recommend binge watching a bunch of YouTube videos and you’ll be caught up in no time. There are some great plugins that can quickly elevate your game, like ACSS, Advanced Themer, and Happy Files, as well as some great element/section libraries like Frames and Brixies.

As for customer support, Bricks’s forum isn’t that great, but their Facebook group is an awesome resource and Bricks is constantly coming out with bug fixes and improvements that make the theme even more impressive.

I was lucky and bought the Bricks LTD at $249, but it’ll be up to you to decide if it’s worth it for you at the current price (knowing what I know now, I’d still buy it at the new price). You can always try Bricks for free with their sandbox sites to see if it’s right for you.

Divi 5 seems like it’s a bit too little too late, and 2025 is way too far away to wait if you need something better now. I would recommend taking a look at WebFlow too if you’re interested in going a completely different route as their offerings are super interesting, but there’s no LTD with them, which sucks.

Anyways, I’d highly recommend at least trying Bricks out, but I’m so glad I switched and I have no interest in looking back. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have too! Cheers!

  7. Oxygen is dead – and I won’t touch anything from these devs even if I was paid to use it.

  8. I had to step away from a client site because moving away from their broken oxygen theme would have been way too time intensive.
