I'm planning to build a portfolio website for myself, but I'm unsure about the design. Should I keep it simple or incorporate animations and various effects? Can you guide me on what type of portfolio websites look professional without being too flashy?

My feeling is that if your portfolio stands on its own, then the site itself doesn’t need to be flashy at all.
If your portfolio is a little thin, then put more effort into making your site stand out so that the site itself is a strong piece.
