I have a new 4k monitor and I set 175% scale in Windows, so my desktop icons and other things are not so small. But I noticed that my website has lower quality images with this setup.
I uploaded 1400×1200 images. WordPress made smaller versions and is using them as needed. It is perfectly fine with 1080p – width of the site is 1400px, so most of the time wordpress is using smaller version (800×685). With 4k resolution, the images that are used are still 800×685 but the scale of Windows is causing everything to “stretch”. Is there any way how to deal with this? Thanks.

upload images at 175%. better if 200%. it’s called @2x, so everybody using a retina display will see good images (not only you). 144 is for retina. besides x and y dimension, you need to think about resolution. example: square images with 100px side, at retina resolution, become 200, but since you have double density you see them like they were 100px.l and we all are happy.
175% is a fairly large amount of zoom – it’s no wonder your images look blurry. I’m not sure most people using a 4K monitor use that much zoom – I know I don’t, almost defeats of the purpose of 4K.
