I have a basic question about using Mail Poet with WP: Do you need a preexisting email address to send from in order to use Mail Poet, or does Mail Poet provide a sending address upon signing up for one of their paid plans? Thanks
You need your own email address and you will need to verify it. Whatever you send through MailPoet will appear as being from that email address (though I think you can change it later to another email address you own).
