Maintenance Problem/ Updating Problem

[ad_1]

Hello,

I can not find the correct result in this subreddit, so I wanted to ask for your help. I have an issue with wordpress when updating my plugins. If I try to update any plugin, the site or the theme (?) will try to enter the maintenance mode. This will cause the plugin update to fail and the page gets stuck in the “briefly scheduled for maintenance” mode. Deleting the maintenance file solves this problem but I still can not update any plugins. The updates will always fail and the plugin page becomes white and shows “-1” … I have never run into this issue. Any of you guys know whats happening?

  1. This issue is being caused by a bug in the Starter Templates plugin that has now been fixed.

If your site is stuck in maintenance mode, you can fix that by deleting the “.maintenance” file in your main WordPress directory (probably /public_html)

    1. To update to the fixed version of the plugin:
    2. Deactivate the Starter Templates plugin (since it’s breaking the updater)
    3. Update the Starter Templates plugin to 3.1.26 or higher
    4. Reactivate the Starter Templates plugin
