Malware on Site

[ad_1]

We have a WordPress woocommerce site and it seems to have been infected with malware of some sort or something that is causing unwanted popups and redirects. We have a malware plugin and tried running a scan with no luck.

Are there any reputable companies or people that offer services to help with this?

Our site was built by a guy that unfortunately passed away not long ago and we’ve been able to maintain it for the most part, but this is something being our limited capabilities.

Thanks!

  1. Yes, I’m sure there are a number of us here who can help. I would suggest get started immediately though with BlogVault – even the basic Plus plan is gonna come with automatic malware removal. [https://blogvault.net/pricing/](https://blogvault.net/pricing/)

  2. What malware plugin are you running? I’ve had good results with WordFence, it does a pretty good job of identifying compromised files and lets you do a line-by-line comparison between what’s on your system, and what the file ought to be. And it’s good for blocking suspicious IPs.

You probably also need to require everyone with login credentials for your site to change their username/password.

  3. Malware plugins will generally only remove infected files, but won’t actually remove the source of the problem i.e. how the malware is getting in. 99% of the time that is caused by a plugin, due to not being kept up to date, abandoned or nulled. You need to figure out what the cause is being doing clean up. Often simply running a Wordfence scan will highlight problem plugins eg those that haven’t received an update in 2 years, or with a known vulnerability. Have you run a WF scan? What was the result?
