Bit of a backstory I just recently joined the family business as a comp sci grad I’ve been put in charge of SEO . We run a nationwide law firm and rebranded last year due to issues with other owners .
We changed our brand name and opened a new site with the new brand name and took our old site and rebranded with the new name and styling .
As I’ve taken over the SEO recently I can see from that time we’ve gone from 4,000 organic search monthly to now 300 .
Although we haven’t done in SEO in the last year consistently I spoke to one of my friends who works as a web developer and he accredited the dip due to the rebranding and the brand name on the site being different to the domain
Any help or suggestions on where to go from here we currently have two websites one crappy one done from a freelancer in india and our old site with our old brand domain that seems to have not being doing great ever since we rebranded .
Any ideas on where to go from here and what we’ve done wrong ??
It doesn’t seem like we’ve being penalised as our link profile was clean is this due to the rebrand and how can I salvage this every month out keywords and traffic is dropping significantly . Thankfully we have a big ppc ad spend but I don’t rlly know what’s happened to tank our site in the last year .

Oh man. This is rough. Your old site ranked because of the content, pages, etc. if you’ve changed URLs, page titles, meta tags, etc, you’re in for a rough ride. The best way to get your ranking back is to reverse everything you’ve done, but it’s probably too late now….
If you “rebuilt” the site, the entire markup probably changed, so everything google knew about your site is now gone.
