Menu Icon names appear in Google result links

[ad_1]

I’ve just noticed that Google results are displaying the name of icons I use before my menu titles.

For example, my WP menu item “Navigation Label” is:
<i class=”material-icons md-18″>directions_bus</i> Let’s Go Places

Google result links under my site name used to say simply: “Let’s Go Places”, but now the result is: “directions_bus Let’s Go Places”

If you search “ESL Lesson Handouts” in Google you may be able to see.

Is this something that should be happening, or has something changed? I believe this to be a recent thing and I haven’t seen it before.
