Migrating a GoDaddy website builder to WordPress.

GoDaddy’s website builder is proprietary. Most WordPress page builders also use their own proprietary markup, which makes it difficult to switch between builders, so decide on a builder now. I recommend WordPress’ native builder, Gutenberg, because it’s lightweight and constantly maintained and easy to transfer content should the need arise. There are also a plethora of plugins to make Gutenberg look great.

The most straightforward way to transfer your site is to simply copy and paste. I’ve successfully done this between numerous different sites and builders. If you’re working on localhost, just copy and paste, adjust the site to your liking, and then export it. When exporting, remember to include the theme properties, plugins, and media. You can do this in one export or split it into several if your site is large.

On your new host, ensure you have SSL and WordPress installed, and then you can import the site. You want to be sure that the page structure is the same. WordPress uses the title of the page as the URL, so [example.com/about-me](http://example.com/about-me) would be titled About Me. Make sure your titles match the existing titles on your GoDaddy site so you won’t have any 404 errors. If you can’t do that, you can use htaccess or a plugin to point to the correct files, such as [example.com/foo/about-me.php](http://example.com/foo/about-me.php) pointing to example.com/about-me.

You will need to recreate the site using a WordPress builder such as elementor or custom design it. You can’t move a godaddy builder site

The bad news is you can’t move it. The good news is your free from godaddy.
