Migrating a WordPress site

[ad_1]

Hi guys, so we currently have a live website on our company.co.uk domain (not a WordPress site) and we have been building a new website on company.com which is now finished.

The problem is we are wanting to move the WordPress site onto company.co.uk and make it live however we are not sure on the best way to do this?

We have asked the company that both domains are hosted on and they have given us some instructions but I think this is under the assumption that both websites are live?

Another problem we have is the current url for the site is company-com.stackstaging.com which I’m guessing will change when it is live? I just wanted to know whether once the url for the site has changed, if we can updated all of the different navigation buttons we have on there?

Thank you in advance and please let me know if anything is unclear or if you need more info to help us.

  1. best option is first to take a full backup of your current [co.uk](http://co.uk) site which not wordpress.. they using all in one wordpress migration tool to upload the wordpress website on [co.uk](http://co.uk) domain , then you can decide on what you wish to do with old content of .co.uk domain.

  2. Most migration plugins (WPVivid, Updraft) will change all references to the url as part of the migration process.

As far as how to put it in your production server – backup the current live site, delete it (and its database if it has one), then perform the migration.
