Migrating Blog To Subdomain, Can I Use Root Domain For Different Site?

Hello,

I want to “start over”, using my root domain for something different (not WordPress). I’m wondering if I migrate my WordPress site over to one of its subdomains, and 301 redirect all of the articles there, can I then use the root domain for a different site.

For example:

\- Move nike(dot)com to blog(dot)nike(dot)com
\- Host a Shopify store at nike(dot)com instead

Or if you can think of any other ways to migrate and “park” my current WordPress site somewhere else, that would be helpful! Thank you
