Hi there, I’m not a heavy WO user, but a friend had hosted his WP site on my hosting services. He downloaded the WP site as a zip package and wants to upload to a new hosting service (where his domain is already hosted). I no longer have access to the original hosting service. Does he need anything else in terms of usernames or passwords, or should he just be able to load and reactivate with what’s in the download package?

He should hopefully be able to upload the site – or at least an expert such as me could probably do it.
The reason for all the qualifiers is that there are several unknown variables here, and the work involved in restoring the site from the downloaded backup is rather tricky.
I should probably add that I doubt your friend will succeed, but I do beleive I could do it.
Depends entirely what’s in the zip file and how it was created.
