Mobile lay-out WordPress / elementor completely off

Hi everybody,

I have been trying to figure out this problem for months but nothing seems to work. I have a WordPress theme build with element or. According to my element or dashboard the mobile settings should look like this:

But in reality it looks like this:

I have set my settings to maximum width and nothing changes. No matter what I do, the whitespace does not change at all.

I hope somebody could give me some guidance because I think it should it be a really simple solution.
