More advanced website on WordPress

[ad_1]

Hi.

I have a question if word press is right tool for me to build website.

My goal is to make website that will work similar to booking.com. So I will need way for users to create account and than post their listing of services ( on booking.com this service is hotel and hostel ) that this user are selling. That they have to be way for buyers to buy this services of course. Lastly I want few smaller thinks like rating sellers, “leveling” system that will get some benefit to buyers ( better prices and etc. ), and many more that will make it easier for both buyers and sellers to get what they want.

Now the question is if is better for me to learn WordPress, coding or pay someone to code it.

  1. Save yourself the headache and pay someone to code it. Don’t use WordPress for it. Can you build a site like that in WordPress? Yes, you can. Should you? No. Not unless you absolutely have to.

  2. You can do it with wordpress but it is not the meant to be used for something of that scale. In the end it would be an overloaded mess of plugin which would do more harm then good.

Your project sounds ambitious and I am not sure if you can understand the scope of such a project without the development expirience. ( I dont want to be rude, just realistic).

You can learn dev and build it with something like next.js. But if you start from scratch, expect to put month into just learning all the stuff.

If you want to pay someone, you can go the fiver way, which is likely a lot cheaper but without code reviewing on your own, it will be messy. If you want an experienced dev, you easily get into 5 digits.

Such a project is a lot of work and needs a lot of time

  3. you probably could build it on WP, but personally I think it isn’t the right tool to use , unless its for a quick and dirty demo/proof of concept.

personally I would probably go for Laravel or symfony framework to build it (maybeven go the API route and have a de-coupled front- and back end)

  4. If you are developing a proof of concept this could be ok. You would need an experienced developer / team conversant with developing and configuring functionality to take this further. You would need specialist search and rating system functionality, building profile management etc

You could theoretically use WordPress in Headless mode to manage your content. Essentially giving you the ability to have any front end whether on the web or app. But this requires an experienced team.

Also you would need to thinking about security and hosting infrastructure.

As for platforms, while WordPress in Headless mode is one option to evaluate, you should also check out GraphQL based platforms like Hygraph [https://hygraph.com/]) there are others too

Do think about these as you detail specifications for your Proof of Concept or Minimum Viable Product.

  5. Your question is quit impressed to me , you know that Everyone has a expert in their work

if you trying to know something knew it gets more time , i think its waste of time
