Moving from Wix to WordPress. Should I buy a template?

[ad_1]

Wix was easy to configure (drag and drop) so I was hoping WordPress had something similar.

I like this Theme: https://themeforest.net/item/lonie-nail-and-beauty-salon/33089101/

If I purchase it, is it simple to upload to my WordPress page which is being hosted by cloudways?

I just need a few pages. Nothing fancy, not selling anything.

Any advice is appreciated.

thanks

  1. WordPress uses “themes”. Templates sometimes come with themes.

Do not buy or use anything in the WP ecosystem that hasn’t received an update in more than 9 months. That theme was abandoned in 2022. Abandoned software will often contain bugs, including security vulnerabilities.

Also avoid any themes and plugins with low install counts – that theme only has 430 installs – look for ones that have over 15K, as that usually means the theme has been around for a long time, has good support and offers a good experience.

  2. If you like that theme, go buy it and use it. Skinning a site is probably a good way to learn WordPress. Once you’ve built a few sites, and you’ve gained a good handle of CSS, then move over to GeneratePress and GenerateBlocks. Otherwise, Themeforest’s biggest issue is that it’s full of theme designers that don’t have the staffing to support thousands of users, and many of their themes become abandoned by their creators.
