If I removed the old Worldpay Payment Method Token and leave it blank would it work and just repopulate with the new info once a payment is tried on the next month’s subscription run using the Stripe gateway?
Hi @darkravendesign
We are looking to migrate from Worldpay to Stripe.
That’s a good move, Stripe is a vastly superior payment processor.
However I notice that the Payment Method Token doesn’t change its data and a new field Stripe Customer ID appears which is blank.
That’s because Stripe and Worldpay are two separate payment gateways. A payment method token from Worldpay has no meaning in Stripe because they are different companies. If that’s what you’re looking for, you will need to have Worldpay provide you with a migration file that Stripe can then upload so you don’t lose your existing customers and payment methods.
The other way is to have your customers update their payment methods on file so their credit cards are created in Stripe.

No, you would need your customers to actively update the payment method associated with their subscription. That’s because a payment method saved in Worldpay has no meaning in Stripe.
Kind Regards,
Many thanks. I sort of thought that would be the case but wanted to discount all options before making a potential nightmare when all the subscriptions fail in one go.
Thanks so much for clearing it up and for the swift response.
Hi @darkravendesign
If you go with the option of having Worldpay create an export of all your payment methods and customers so they can be uploaded to Stripe, contact us via our support page.
We can give you guidance that will greatly increase your chance of success.
The other option is just have your customers all login on their subscription due date and have them update the payment method associated with their subscription.
Kind Regards,
