Multiple languages (Native, not translated) on WP?

[ad_1]

Been out of the WP game in a while but is there a way to have 2 languages nowadays or a plugin still necessary for that? Plan to build something in English/German if anything, but the text will be native and not be auto translated.

  1. WPML is a good choice. Especially if you have lots of content. It creates virtual subdirectories and the translation process is quite simple after you get used to it.

    Or you do a multisite and make the languages in subfolders/subdomains. Though this might have some SEO drawbacks and depending on the size can be annoying to manage.

  2. Check out Polylang as it’s free and on WP plugin repository. Just search in wp-admin > Plugins > Add Plugins

    It can works with permalink prefix like a subfolder, or subdomain, or even entirely different domain, with just one WP install. You can also just use different permalink for each language-specific post.

  3. * [whatever.com/en])
    * [whatever.com/de])

    In the front page you could put two buttons, one ENGLISH and the DEUTSCH
