Hey everyone, I am coming on here to say I finally got to make a website for a local business of mine. Basically, I was at the right place at the right time and one of my good friends knew I developed my own websites using WordPress and figured it would be a win win situation for him and I, I’m a software development student and I love web development and web design and really enjoy WordPress. The only things I have to ask about WordPress is how much further can I take this as a freelancer, like how many websites can one person manage? Also, are there any other great open-source content management systems? Finally, I would love to read other people’s experiences when they first started getting into WordPress and how they were able to succeed!

Congrats – it’s a great feeling. Hopefully you’re on top of site security, image optimisation, plugin updates, etc.

>*how much further can I take this as a freelancer*
A long way – you’ll never stop learning and growing, the goalposts are always moving.

>*like how many websites can one person manage?*
I’m at ~120, and counting. Managing a lot of sites is something you’ll figure out over time – there’s a lot to learn, like Linux, security, optimisation/performance, etc, especially if you want to host on your own servers.

>*Also, are there any other great open-source content management systems?*
Lots eg Drupal, Ghost, Strapi, etc. In the CMS market, last time I checked, WordPress had >64% marketshare.
>Also, are there any other great open-source content management systems?
Next.js + headless CMS like Payload, Strapi, Sanity, etc.
