I believe you are using WordPress.com which is exactly different from a self-host site.
You should move out of proprietary platform as it’s an SaaS.
You’re showing code instead of the default visual, try to change that using the 3 dots located on the top right, you’ll see you’re using “Code Editor”, click on “Visual Editor” to switch.
