My wordpress site becoming more slow as I add more page and functionality.

My wordpress site becoming more slow as I add more page and functionality. I want to solve this issue first before adding more function to the woocommerce section, which is the check out process.

Even when I load the back-end is very slow. For example I click the Settings section or the Product section of the wordpress admin. It took longer than I expected like about 3+ seconds. I am using Kadence + Woocommerce (34 products, 6 categories) + The SEO Framework

Here is the performance test result, however I dont know how to read these data or to trouble shoot it. Anyone can point me in the right direction to make my website faster?

  1. Some useful plugins:

-> WP Fastest Cache or W3 Total Cache: both are awesome cache plugins

-> Smush: if you don’t want to go through replacing all your images by webp and serve their original format when not supported, get a plug-in like smush which will do that for you

-> WP Meteor: if you use elementor this plug-in makes your website a LOT faster

-> Asset CleanUp: allows you to prioritize, async or defer scripts and styles, as well as blocking them from loading

  2. The big red flag I see is the ‘time to first byte’. That’s the time the web browser is waiting for a response after sending the request to your server. This is the application processing – PHP, Mysql, etc.

The wordpress admin backend is always going to be slower than the front-end (customer-facing) , there’s a lot more going on to load the admin side. I wouldn’t worry about that unless it’s so slow you can’t do what you need to do, or if the application starts timing out. The front-end performance is what matters most, and where you’ll be penalized by search engines.

This is all likely a result of inadequate server resources- you probably need more RAM, disk, CPU, etc. That should improve the front-end and back-end experience.

Caching/optimization plugins can help, but those typically don’t impact the admin side.

    Get more Ram and CPUs.

  3. As someone that optimized countless Websites for speed and dealing with my own Startup i can give you following Tips:

To simplify it there are two levels and you want to want to priotize the first one:

    Server Level -> Plugin Level

If you can’t do it on the Server Level do it on the Plugin level, but it is highly recommended doing it on Server level!!

In all following things need to be done:

    – DB Caching/ Object Caching (Redis Server level -> Docket Cache Plugin Level)

    – CSS/Html/JS Minification (Cloudflare CDN -> W3 Total Cache minification)

    – Page Caching (In your case go instantly for W3 Total Cache Setup Guide)

    – Browser Caching (On Cloudflare select respect Headers and W3 Setup Guide does the rest)

    – Images (There are countless Plugins for that i recommend “Converter for Media”)

After that i would highly recommend making speed tests over Google Page Speed and gtmetrix, they will give you insight of what you need to improve.

I hoped this help, if you have any questions feel free to as me 🙂
    Good luck!
