Mysql load very high with very low traffic

[ad_1]

I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with the mysql database in my site. I have very low traffic, mostly idle just a handful per minute, yet, I’m seeing a huge load of around 6000 queries per 5 seconds as shown on phpmyadmin status monitor, pushing out 50MB and sometimes 200MB per 5 seconds. Clearly that can’t be due to the organic load I’m getting.

The process list doesn’t show anything and seems idle. Is there a way to find out what might be stressing the database? Is the database server somehow shared with others?
