Hey fellow Redditors,
I’m seeking some advice and guidance regarding the speed issues I’m facing with my WordPress e-commerce website. I’m new to website building, so your insights would be incredibly valuable. [https://zandelayindustries.com/])
The Problem:
My website’s loading time is noticeably slow, but I need to be able to resolve the issue effectively. Here’s what I’m working with:
Desktop speeds are not as bad but say “needs improvement”.
Theme: Astra Version 4.1.7
Plugins: WooCommerce and a limited number of other essential plugins
Hosting: Bluehost’s basic plan (which turned out to be more expensive than expected now that I’m in the second year)
SSL: Included with Bluehost’s plan
Caching: Bluehost has various caching options that they’ve tried on their end, and I’ve also installed the free version of W3 Total Cache
Image Optimization: Using Smush to reduce image sizes
Images: Uploaded images with their native resolutions (I’ve learned this might be a mistake)
My Efforts So Far:
I’ve already contacted Bluehost’s support, and they’ve tried enabling and disabling different caching options, but the problem persists.
Areas I Think Could Be Contributing to the Issue:
Image Sizes: As I mentioned, I uploaded images with their native resolutions, which might be affected load times.
Hosting Plan: I’m using Bluehost’s basic plan, which might not be sufficient for my needs.
Caching Configuration: Even though I’ve tried different caching options, I’m unsure if they are configured correctly.

Like cable TV, cell service, and other subscriptions, this is something you’ve got to watch out for with many hosts. The whole “introductory pricing” deal can be confusing and annoying. Always read the fine print.
Cache, cdn, preload what you can, defer the rest, delay anything non-essential, minify everything, remove unused css, reduce unnecessary dom bloat by using combination widgets.
Recently got an ecommerce site with 24 plugins, 4k+ products (Not that it matters), on elementor with a fairly large landing page to 98/93/100/100 mobile page speed, lol.
Your site loads pretty quickly browsing as a human, and that’s the main thing to worry about.
Blue host. Right there is your major problem.
If you want fast e-commerce, take a look at WP Engine. They have a Woocommerce performance add-on that works well. That’s the quicker solution.
Migrate to a new web host. Flywheel and WPEngine are optimized for WordPress and it’s the only thing that they do. If cost is an issue, I’ve also had success running WordPress on Dreamhost’s VPS basic plans.
Edit: just note that when I said Flywheel and WPEngine only do WordPress, I meant it. They don’t host email so you’ll need to use a 3rd party service for your emails.
All of your efforts are an uphill battle when you have BlueHost. You can put lipstick on a pig all day to make it look better, but in the end, it’s still a pig.
Change Web hosts, godaddy and bluehost are slow and have bad reputations. Get yourself a VPS or a dedicated server.
