# Description
I’m used to working with Elementor, but since the last WordPress update, I’ve decided to give the block editor a go (also because it’s free). So I need some advice for building different sites and customizing them.
# Approach
As far as building pages, my understanding is that under *Appearance > Editor* you can create the general outline of the page, i.e., basically the header and footer, and any other elements you want it to contain by default.
So, let’s say I’ve got three different pages, the homepage, an about page, and a contact page. If I want to be able to customize these pages, **they need to contain the** ***post content*****-block.**
With this block being inserted, I can go to *Pages > Add New* and create my page. From there I can also customize things, insert images, set paddings and margins and so forth.
# Question(s)
Now, when I’m in the editor (see screenshot below. FYI: I deleted some of the personal information), I’m assuming that I’m only editing the code block right (Can someone clarify this?)? – At least that is what it looks like in the editor.
1. Why do some templates not show up in the part marked with **1.?**
There’s a lot more templates in *Appearance > Editor > Browse all templates* (in the above part). But only a few will show up in the below part marked with **1.**
2. Is there a way to see the whole site including the header and footer (**2, 3**)? That’s what I’m used to in Elementor. And it makes it a lot easier to set margins, padding, etc. It also gives a better feeling of how the site looks.
