Hello everyone,
I run a printing house and I’m planning to set up an e-commerce website where clients can place their orders directly. I want a streamlined process on the site where customers can choose specifications, upload files, and pay online without needing to call us.
Here’s a brief overview of how I envision the website:
-Home Page:
Features floating squares for each product (e.g., business cards, brochures). Clicking a square takes the user to a dedicated order page for that product.
-Product Order Page:
This would be a multi-step process:
1. Choosing the paper type
2. Choosing the finish
3. Selecting the quantity
4. Uploading a file
5. Calculating the cost based on choices
6. Secure payment gateway
I need a platform that can handle custom product options, file uploads, dynamic pricing, and payment processing efficiently. I’m considering platforms like WooCommerce (WordPress), Shopify, and BigCommerce but am open to other suggestions as well. (Money is also a big factor)
PS: I have a little knowledge in WordPress, its me who update and write in our official web site ( we already have a WordPress web site)
* Questions for the community:
1. Which platform would you recommend for a business model like mine and why?
2. Are there specific themes or plugins you think would be particularly useful?
3. Any pitfalls or issues I should be aware of with these platforms?
I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice you can share, especially from those who have set up similar online stores.
Thank you in advance!

If you aren’t an experienced developer, go with Shopify. There are a lot of moving parts to your project.
You can either become an expert, or hire an expert.
