Need help! WordPress newbie.

[ad_1]

Hey everyone,

I have been working on my website for 6 days. My understanding is it takes some time for google to index it. However, I have a few concerns. I just want to understand as I want to make sure I do everything as good as possible for a newbie.

They indexed my homepage a few days, but they are showing 16 pages as not indexed.

Reasons are 4 pages are 404.

12 pages are discovered – currently not indexed.

I selected start validation, as I couldn’t tell if I needed to make any adjustments. So it says started on those 12.

The 4 404 pages all end with /?p=”number 1-8″. I have a plugin to see all my urls and they aren’t showing these? I want to remove them if possible, but I can’t seem to find them.

I am just trying to understand if this all seems normal? I thought it would automatically index them, I wasn’t sure if the reason it was telling me they hadn’t yet is because of a needed change.

Some side questions: (not as important just a newbie)

How am I getting viewers? I have been getting 10-20 a day I assume from wordpress or something? Since only yesterday did it start to appear on google.

Should I submit a new sitemap every time i make a change? and all that consists of is posting the same sitemap url and pasting it?

I use SEO pluggins, but I am totally open to any major no-no’s if anyone has any for a new website maker? I am trying to minimize my mistakes.

  1. Settings > Permalinks – set to Post Name.

the /?p=XX format is the default WP Permalink setting, and isn’t great for SEO.

You don’t need to resubmit your sitemap – it is updated dynamically.

Changes can take several weeks to appear in Google.
