Need Some direction

[ad_1]

Hello.

I would appreciate a suggestion. I want to create a website where a person can select from a list (a dropdown list or other) that leads them to a second list. They will be able to choose one of the sub-topics, and it will lead them to a web page that has information.

For example, they see a list of topics: basketball, football, and baseball. They select baseball, then see the second list of MLB, NCAA,… When they select MLB, it will contain some information.

Also, the website will require a username and password to access the information. I would like the second list to have at least 500 entries.

I’m stuck on finding a plugin or theme that will handle this. The plugin or theme can be free or paid.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your help

Edit: I’ve looked at WP Category Dropdown or getting a WordPress theme for product sales, but I’m not planning on selling products

  1. Seems like you could just create categories with sub categories for the drop downs and a membership plugin for the user access

  2. You can try using a plugin such as Custom Post Type UI, which allows you to create custom post types, taxonomies, and custom fields. You can create a custom post type for each of the main topics (e.g. basketball, football, baseball) and then create a taxonomy for each of the sub-topics (e.g. MLB, NCAA). You can then link the sub-topics to web pages with information using the custom fields feature.

Or some WordPress themes come with built-in dropdown menus that allow you to create nested lists and link them to web pages. You can search for themes with “dropdown menus” or “nested menus” in the feature list.

Final option is using custom menus as WordPress allows you to create custom menus and link them to web pages. You can create a custom menu for each of the main topics and then create sub-menus for the sub-topics. You can then link the sub-menus to web pages with information.

To add a login requirement to your website, you can use a plugin like “WPForms” or “Formidable Forms” to create a login form. You can then restrict access to certain pages or content on your website to logged-in users only.
