I’m starting a community site on WP. What are your video tutorial suggestions for a WP newbie to overcome user error? I’ve tried Guttenberg with themes like Astra, Neve, and OceanWP. I get some basic stuff designed, like headers, footers, and some blog blocks, but I don’t get far before I get frustrated with the rest of the design. It is more challenging to drag-and-drop than advertised. I added and deleted so many themes and plugins that I uninstalled and reinstalled WP to get a fresh start.
I considered designing my theme in Canva but changed my mind after reading a caution about making manual theme updates.

Web development is a highly specialised occupation. To build your own site, you need to know both the basic or web development, and design – which eliminates 99.999% of the population. You can try and reach yourself those skills, but it takes years, even decades.
If you’re not a developer or designer, a newbie-friendly platform like Squarespace or Wix may suit you better. WordPress gives you control over literally everything, which isn’t ideal if you don’t know what you’re doing.
