Hi! I am trying to update my website and add some plugins. I see that I have 5 updates that are due and whenever I try to update any one of them, I get a critical error that puts my site in maintenance mode.
The error is
Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function set\_time\_limit() in /home/clients/cd74deeafce97a83c8db9638f062bf41/web/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-upgrader.php:473 Stack trace: #0 /home/clients/cd74deeafce97a83c8db9638f062bf41/web/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-upgrader.php(799): WP\_Upgrader->install\_package(Array) #1 /home/clients/cd74deeafce97a83c8db9638f062bf41/web/wp-admin/includes/class-plugin-upgrader.php(137): WP\_Upgrader->run(Array) #2 /home/clients/cd74deeafce97a83c8db9638f062bf41/web/wp-admin/update.php(176): Plugin\_Upgrader->install(‘/home/clients/c…’, Array) #3 {main} thrown in /home/clients/cd74deeafce97a83c8db9638f062bf41/web/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-upgrader.php on line 473.

Any recommendations for how to fix? I think it might have something to do with caching? I didn’t set up a persistent cache when I built the site, but now I can’t add one because whenever I update or add any plug-in, the site goes into maintenance mode. Could be totally wrong though haha

That’s a function normally built into PHP. Your host should be able to help you fix it.
