It looks to me as if you are using this css and JS minify plugin: https://de.projectdmc.org/plugins/wp-super-minify/

I think it is a bit too agressive and breaks the code. Normally those plugins offer settings, to adjust the minification behaviour.

Please understand, that i am not able to give support regarding other plugins.

Please share your solution, so that others can benefit from this as well.

Thank you, Nikel. I excluded the JS and CSS files from minification and the plugin is now behaving as expected.
