Optimizing photos to conserve storage in mobile

[ad_1]

Hello,

I run a hiking blog on WordPress. I don’t really have very many readers at the moment if any. Just a fun little personal project to document for myself and to send to my friends if they’re curious about a hike I’ve done.

Most of my posts about individual hikes contain 50-100 photos each, and I’m currently using the “personal” plan. Having so many images, I’ve burned through the 6gb of storage space really fast. So I’m at the point now where I either need to upgrade again, find another hosting site, or take some measures to conserve space on my existing plan.

I did some research and from what I could interpret, it’s recommended to compress photo files a little before uploading to decrease the amount of storage space they use.

I’m not tech savvy in the slightest bit, so the Jetpack app on my mobile device has been easy to use. I create a post, hit “add image,” and pull straight from my camera roll.

Is there a way to optimize photo files on a mobile device in order to keep the ease of use when updating my blog? I already have hundreds of photos, so I’d need to go back and compress the existing ones as well.

Or would it be easier to just move my WordPress site to a storage site such as blue host?
