Order (or reservation) deposit | WordPress.org

[ad_1]

Hello,

Thanks for your message. We understand you’re not looking for a damage/security deposit that should be refunded in case the product returned is not damaged. You’re rather looking for a deposit to secure the reservation, hence to request a partial payment of the order total amount in order to confirm the rental order.

That’s indeed possible. You can find a dedicated setting in the Configuration page of VikRentItems (2nd tab “Prices and Payments”). Thew setting “Pay Entire Amount” should be disabled, and in your case you should provide 20 under “Leave a deposit of”. Just select the percent value for the deposit amount so that the system will request a payment of the 20% of the rental order total amount in order to confirm the reservation.

However, please notice that this setting is only useful to those using the commercial version of the plugin. This is because the deposit feature is only applied before starting an online payment transaction, i.e. through PayPal. The free version of the plugin does not support custom payment methods, and as we said, only real bank gateways that will start a payment transaction will actually apply the deposit to calculate the proper amount to be paid. This means that an offline payment method of the commercial version of the plugin, such as the “Bank Transfer”, would not support the deposit feature for the sole reason that no transactions will be started. That’s something that would work with any real payment gateway like PayPal, Stripe etc…

We hope this helps!
