I have spent over 100 hours trying to figure out why my clients wordpress site takes over 5 seconds to load and I’ve narrowed down the problem. Kind of.
What I know is that once the server responds, everything starts loading fairly quickly so the issue is something to do with the backend processing and not the content I have on the site.
I also have caching setup (Page caching, Browser caching, Cloudfront CDN, Database caching) and despite trying a million different configurations I still having the same problem.
I either need to figure out what’s causing the server to take such a long time to generate the pages or figure out why the page cache is only working some of the time.
Here are the details about my setup:
* Amazon Lightsail server with Bitnami install
* Separate Amazon Lightsail server with the DB
* Amazon Lightsail CDN setup with recommended cache setting for wordpress site
* W3 Performance Cache Plugin
* No load balancing
The issue has persisted across different hosting providers. Any thoughts on what I could even use to diagnose the problem?
