Overwhelmed on my first client website. Guidance and clarification needed.

Client gave me login info for his website, it’s a wooCommerce + WordPress store using elementor PRO. The original site is absolute garbage and he gave me a sample site to base the new one off of.

After getting some of layout for the home page done, I started running into issues with the “new products” section. I can’t figure out how to make it so instead of pagination its arrows. Also had issues with flexbox and all that. Even tho in HTML CSS I can understand flexbox pretty good. And now seeing that I need to add a section for reviews , more “trendy” products, I’m really wondering if buying a prebuilt theme is better. It seems unethical and of course I don’t think I can charge as much if I do that but I am feeling stressed.

Also the first guy who did the site, not sure but when I start a new page the background , header and footer are already there and I can’t edit them cuz I get another error , something about “you must call the content function” or something. I told the client to ask the first dev to give me max permissions hoping it’ll fix it but let’s see.

Was hoping elementor would have more options for prebuilt sections for reviews and all that and better pagination options, unless I’m missing something. Also I won’t be sharing the website for privacy reasons.

  1. You should not be charging clients. Do the right thing and let a pro fix this. You’re screwing with someone’s livelihood.
