Its pretty normal for support to ask for admin login. Its less time to just look than go back and fourth in emails. What I do is use the plugin Temporary Login Without Password to create an admin login that expires after 1 week and automatically hides the ability to do things like edit other users, etc. Also take a backup of the site ahead of time just in case, but I have never had support break a site before.
