Trying to build a website with WordPress and dokan. This is my first time building a website and I’m quite overwhelmed by all the different parts. Don’t want to start buying domains, hosting services, plugins, security etc without knowing everything. Can someone lay out all the pieces of how i should go about this? Thank you
I know I’m the one that recommended Dokan but I didn’t realize you never built a website before. In that case, [Sharetribe](https://www.sharetribe.com) is probably a better option for you.
I understand how you feel, I was the same way when I first started. First, set clear goals for your website and figure out what you want to create. Look for web design inspiration to guide you. Once you have a vision, play around and watch YouTube tutorials, they can be really helpful.
Try it yourself. Almost developers comes on the same path & that’s the proper one. WordPress is not rocket science & any one can understand by putting effort on it.
Initially it’s overwhelming. But soon you can understand every thing.
My suggestion is initailly set up a WordPress in localy with LAMP server. I always suggest to switch your local computer to Linux. Then learn to install plugins & themes.
After you set up WordPress in local, just purchase a domain. It’s always an assets & your identity. Then try some free VPS like AWS free trial etc. Set up server & try to host. That’s enough. Don’t need to bother about security now.
In my early days, I have spend almost 16 hour daily in front of my system.
