Permissions wp-admin vs wp-login.php

So I have a wordpress site that works as it should except I can no longer login. If I go to domain. com/wp-admin, I get a forbidden message. If I go to domain. com/wp-login.php, I get the login page, but when I put the credentials in I still get forbidden. This makes me think that something is screwed up with the wp-admin directory permissions. It’s an onsite server and I have access to it. I’m just not sure where to start.
