Picking up WordPress again… (maybe).

[ad_1]

I used WP a million years ago when it was known as a “blog engine” primarily. It appears there are a lot of competing editors and thoughts on the platform.

My go-to is hand coding HTML/CSS/SCSS/JS, etc. I lean on UI frameworks like materialize(not so much anymore) and Bootstrap & Sass from time to time. I also know enough PHP/MySQL to be dangerous.

My understanding is that the platform is changing from a PHP architecture to a “JS” architecture?

There appears to be opportunities in creating WP sites for customers. I’m attempting to figure what I should focus my attention on regarding WP. If I understand block-level hand-coding, flex-box, etc. what should I do? I’m not really interested in fixing or re-designing legacy WP sites.

Gutenberg seems to get a lot of criticism. Is that the new direction for WP? I know tons of people like Elementor, breakdance, etc.

Any skilled WP professionals care to enlighten me on direction? TIA for any help.
