Please advise on best email practices with my WP site.

*tl;dr: emails via my WP site usually get to me, but at least occasionally do not. Looking for suggestions to improve my current setup, and/or links to best practices.*

My WP site is hosted at Stablehost (shared), and I’m using Contact Form 7 plugin. To and From fields in Contact Form are [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). I also have that email address listed as a contact method, separate from Contact Form (simple mailto: link on the site).

At Stablehost I have a forwarder to send [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) to my Gmail address, since that’s what I use every day. A potential new client told me that he tried to contact me via the above email address, but was “returned undeliverable.” I’m not sure if he used the contact form or not.

In a recent thread here, someone recommended Gmail SMTP plugin, and I noticed on their plugin page it says, “Most shared hosting servers have restrictions when it comes to email. Usually email will get blocked or missing for no reason.”

**Do you think Gmail SMTP will solve my issue? Any other suggestions to configure my email more reliably? Ideally I’d like to get** [**[email protected]**](mailto:[email protected]) **emails sent to my Gmail account, but if that’s not a great idea, I would check emails another way, like via Cpanel.**

Or add the email account at Gmail settings, to send and receive [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) email directly (without using Gmail SMTP plugin)?

Happy to provide a link to actual site, or more info, if that would help.
