Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to have a job with multiple openings. We do have an open enhancement request to implement this feature, to which I’ve added your request. I can’t give you an ETA on when (or if) it might be implemented.
CAVEAT: The following potential workaround requires the Applications paid addon.
You could use a code snippet to create a custom application status you can use, instead of the default, to avoid triggering the change of the Job listing status.
