Pricing for Monthly Site Maintenance

[ad_1]

For a restaurant website that includes payment processing, food ordering, and reservation management, along with custom front and back end, what is a reasonable ongoing maintenance charge for my clients?

  1. At least 100$ a month. Make sure it’s enough so you make some $. At agencies I’ve been at we did 100$ a month that includes an hour of work on the site, mostly photo updates and small additions/changes. plugin updates, and offline backups also included.

  2. We charge a minimum of $75 a month. Comes with hosting, daily plugin updates, daily backups, uptime monitoring, security scans and 30 mins of content updates (non rolling). However, I would suggest charging a bit more due to the e-commerce of your project.

  3. We do $100/m, $300/m, $500/m and TBD tiers depending on the client’s needs. $100/m is basically plugin updates, regular backups, etc. $500/m and up basically includes all of that plus some retainer time (usually a few hours a month) for custom development, more reporting/analytics/reputation management features and the like. For unscheduled, non-contract work for any client, our standard rate is $115/hour. The TBD tier is for high-need clients who are basically looking to us to save on an annual salary/employee hire by contracting us instead. $1k/month is way too much for most clients, for example, but not for clients who are saving $50k+ a year because they’re using us instead of hiring an in-house dev.

That’s the broad strokes, but for a restaurant, we typically don’t get much higher than $100/m.

  4. My maintenance packages range from $50/month to $200/month. Depending on the clients needs and the number of websites.

  5. Depends what you consider maintenance, how long it takes you, and how much you want to be paid per hour. Are you including “flex time” in that maintenance, or will any open-ended work (content updates, user training) strictly be hourly? Depending on what everyone’s expecting, this could be just a couple of dollars per month or it could be hundreds per month.

  6. We charge $150/mo for our basic service. This includes:

    – hosting
    – WP and plugin updates
    – security scans
    – use of our commercial plugins
    – 1 hr of whatever they need done (does not accumulate)
    – daily backups
    – off-site backup storage
    – support response within 24 hrs

If a client needs more than 1 hour monthly, we have a couple of options that cover additional support. They can buy blocks of hours at a discount, they can go with an increased retainer, or they can pay for actual hours used at our normal retail price.
