Problem assigning a user permission to edit a page

[ad_1]

I’m trying to assign a user permission to allow editing of a page – something I thought was simple when I did it before. I’m using WordPress 6.6.1 and PublishPress 4.0.26. and operating as an administrator.

The issue I’m having is the [search] function on the [Permissions: edit this Page] section of the wp-admin [Edit Page] screen, [Users] tab does not seem to be working correctly. If the [Search Users] box is left blank and I click [search button] (the magnifying glass), the [Search Results] box lists all users (which I guess is the anticipated result). Then I can select the user I want to establish the edit permission for – but as there over 500 users searching through the un-ordered list is tedious.

However, if I type anything at all (from a single letter to a full name) in the [Search Users] box nothing is ever returned in the [Search Results] box. It used to work but I’ve not used this function for a month or so so do not know when it stopped working.

I’ve tried entering SQL pattern matching characters into the search string in case that might help – but it didn’t.

Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

regards

Ed Dee
