My question is for those of you who are developers well versed in php/html/css/js ( and maybe a touch of react ), *and* who use Gutenberg. When you begin a new wordpress website do you jump straight into the block editor to assemble the page with a graphical user interface and switch to code only when you reach the limits of gutenberg? Do you write a custom theme and only use gutenberg when you need some sort of customizable widget?
I havent worked in wordpress in a long time. In my [previous post]) I recall the horror of having my boss pick out a theme from themeforest as a way to “accelerate” the development of a site. TLDR it was a mess and I’m trying to research the best process for the next wordpress site. It seems from all that google presented me today, that Gutenberg isnt going away and I’m kinda sick of being mystified by it. However I cannot stand working in drag and drop editors. It seems so much easier to write the page in VS Code. So i’m trying to figure out if it’s just a matter of getting comfortable with Gutenberg, or if there is an angle I’m missing here.
Thanks in advance!
