I know that page builders are hated, and I understand why. However in the lower end of the market, they are a useful tool to quickly develop complex layouts IMHO, and so – that’s how I roll.
I also prototype in the page builder. Reasons?
1. I collect design preferences and reference sites from the client during discovery – I’m not throwing darts in the dark when I design.
2. I know my builder and associated tools well, and I can work fast to get whats in my head on the screen
3. I can check responsiveness as I go
4. I can give the client interactive demos, complete with animations and dynamic components
5. What they see is what they get, and after they approve revisions, my job is done.
I know most people work with Figma or similar design tools, and I am struggling to understand why. They need to design at least desktop and mobile versions, it’s not interactive, and then they have to go ahead and emulate the design either in pure HTML/CSS or some other tool to make it live – there’s duplication of effort.
What am I missing?
