Question about HTML versions

[ad_1]

Hey guys. I used to develop websites in HTML, SCSS and ReACT in college. Then I did an internship in a company and we used WordPress with Elementor, and I never coded 100% from scratch again. I miss it a bit. The reason I brought that up and my question:

When I coded it was easy to specify which HTML version I was using. With WordPress I find it more confusing. I have the Generic Theme (it’s the name of the theme) installed and Elementor free. The Generic theme says it has HTML 5 and CSS 3, but lighthouse tells me my website is HTML 1.1 and that I should use HTML 2 instead. I know there’s the plug-in HTML 2 push, that forces all HTML to HTML 2, but shouldn’t it be 5 based on my theme? Or is it a WordPress thing?

I know this is a stupid and basic question, but I couldn’t figure it out by myself and got confused

Thank you in advance and kind regards
