Question if CDN would be worth it for my website

[ad_1]

This question is coming from a newbie.

From my understanding CDN is like a server that stores your images, css, js etc and then distributes them based on the best geographical location avaliable for the person who is acessing the website.

In my case, I am only targetting my country, which is small. Our server where the website is hosted, is also national, so from my understanding there is no benefit from using a CDN since I highly doubt there would be more than one server in my country, if any at all. At least that was the case for Cloudflare which seem to be the biggest CDN service.

So, would there be any benefit from using a CDN ?

I use W3Cache plugin, if so, should I use one of the avaliable CDN services there, or use the cloudflare free version ?

  1. Cloudflare provides added benefits for free.99

If you aren’t expecting much traffic to your site from other countries, then I’d say go with Cloudflare for their offered security features.

You can block traffic based on region. I need to switch my server over to Cloudflare, I get about a couple thousand hits from foreign countries everyday. Too bad they’re all SSH login attempts lol.

I never saw much of a performance difference between caching images on my site and caching them with cloudflare when I last used it.

  2. There wouldn’t be any befenit because your users could be forced to connect to a server located in another country.
