I occasionally get influxes of views to my site because someone has posted a link to one of my articles somewhere, or to my blog in general, but the “referrers” section often doesn’t show the site or accurately reflect the number of people coming from it.
For example, someone recently posted a link to my blog on Reddit, and in the “referrers” section it says I have 30 referrals from Reddit… meanwhile I’ve actually gotten about 400 extra visitors who aren’t accounted for in the referral section. Does WordPress only count something as a referral from reddit if the person clicking the link has an account, or something?
I’ve been using WordPress for years but this is something I still don’t have a full understanding of!
