At first, certain picture files disappeared from my site. but I put that down to my error and replaced them all.
If any issue, restore your backup; that’s absolutely the first thing to do (hence all the warnings everywhere about it).
A few days later my hero header image disappeared from my site entirely. I replaced it from my computer. Then the same thing happened with a widget image. Wiped off my site.
The plugin does only delete images when you run the deletion process, not after, and certainly not one week later 🙂 This is just because of caching, your browser, your website, etc. After a cleaning session, you must absolutely check your website, and of course, with a cache reset.
Also, if you wish, we can restore your site from our nightly backups
You should do that, restore your backup from before you need the cleaning.
If the plugin removes too many files from you, please check the tutorial with a lot of care, reset your cache before checking your website, etc, etc. Cleaning images is a complicated process.
