I am in the process of creating software with a friend in hopes that I can sell it on my WordPress website. The deeper we get into development, the more I am realizing all of the roadblocks on the website side. Not with the ability of WordPress, but with how greedy these third party addon developers are. For someone with no funding besides the salary they get from their day job, how does one afford all of these premium addons that seem so crucial to even the INITIAL stage of development of the business? For example, we need to worry about integrating WordPress with Firebase. With our plans of a pricing structure, we need to allow customers to purchase our software at a per user per month/year basis. And naturally, we need the buyer/admin to manage the users in their organization from a billing perspective. After doing some research, “x” seems to be the most viable addon for what we need because they have “corporate account” functionality, but it costs \~$400 per year (which is showing as discounted from \~$800). Keep in mind, this is just one example. It doesn’t seem like it is possible to just build something in preparation for a business rather than already being a business and having the money to afford all of these addons. This is also to the point that most businesses do not succeed. There are plenty of ways to structure pricing so that developers of these addons can still make money, I would argue even more with my ideas, while allowing those similar to my situation to have an *attempt* at success. Am I missing something or is this the harsh reality?

You want to sell software but complain about buying it?
It takes money to make money. Most plugins are priced according to the amount of work that goes into building and maintaining that plugin. It’s a lot more work and a lot harder than most people realize. It comes down to these simple questions.
1. Can you get by without the plugin?
2. If not, can you code it yourself?
3. If so, does it make more sense to spend the money or the time coding?
In the vast majority of cases, it makes sense yo just pony up and buy it.
