Redirect giving 404 to sub level folders

Hi,

Redirects should work regardless of how many subfolders you use in your path. But they will only work if the request is handled by WordPress. If those folders you are trying to redirect actually exist on the server then the server might just be trying to read the folder contents instead of passing it on to the WordPress in the root folder. Is the 404 error page a WordPress page or a default apache or whatever you are using page?
